We’re often torn between choosing a glass or plastic cup when we want to hydrate. This confusion usually stems from a lack of understanding about which type of container is safest and best, and which poses no health risks. So, what kind of cup should we use?
Quite a few researchers have stated that drinking from a glass cup is safer than using a plastic cup. As summarized by Indianaexpress.com from a statement by Ganesh Iresh regarding safe drinking containers, glass cups are not easily contaminated by any chemicals. Therefore, there’s no need to worry about chemicals leaching into your drink and entering your body as you drink.
Plastic cups, on the other hand, contain harmful chemicals or toxins, such as Bisphenol-A (BPA). The accumulation of BPA in the body can negatively impact health, especially with frequent use of plastic cups for drinking.
Conditions such as liver dysfunction, asthma, thyroid disorders, and brain dysfunction are often linked to the use of BPA-containing plastic containers.
In fact, there is another factor to consider when choosing a glass cup over a plastic one for drinking: the material properties of glass, which are better at maintaining temperature stability and preserving the mineral content in any liquid.
